Medicine Scans (2017) is a collage series of digital scans made with empty medicine sleeves collected by the artist during an illness. Each sheet is labelled with days of the week, arranged here in grid patterns mimicking the tedious repetitions associated with battling an affliction over time. The work is a reminder of the fragility of the human body, which often relies on science, technology and medicine for survival, which are neither perfect nor absolute.
Part of an ongoing series exploring medical science, mortality and fragile states.
